“…If there is one thing I hope my books do always and forever, it’s that they honor working people.” –Adriana Trigiani
It's been a busy spring! The Tuckahoe Women's Club in Richmond, Virginia made me an honorary member, and we held a writing workshop to a sold out house of women recording their family stories. I went up the road to Charlottesville, joined Margo Lee Shetterly, Lee Smith and Douglas Brinkley for a night of great conversation at The Virginia Festival of the Book.
There were fabulous community reads from Pennsylvania to Michigan. We went home to Big Stone Gap, Virginia to plant dogwood trees in our mother's memory with her beloved garden club, support our magnificent community college MECC in memory of Dr. and Barbara Polly, attend a tea with Mary Trigiani celebrating Cooking with My Sisters to benefit the Fox and Tolliver historical homes, and attend a poetry night at UVA Wise that was sheer perfection. So much talent!
I enjoyed a glorious luncheon and auction for over 600 gorgeous women in Knoxville, Tennessee to support the Women's Fund of East Tennessee. In, Elkhart, Indiana, we cut the ribbon on the Hawthorne Elementary School Public Library, with a theme of Superheroes and named for a very humbled author. The school is a short ride from South Bend, Indiana and Saint Mary's College where I spent four happy years making theater.
We have long been big fans of the Lifetime television and are thrilled to announce the premiere of Very Valentine on June 8, 2019 at 8 pm/7 pm central! We're kicking off the fun with Lifetime's National Book Club! Details will be available soon on Lifetime's FB page. Please join me as we read Very Valentine and discuss themes of love, work and family. We'll explore family business, old world craftsmanship and how a couple might juggle the demands of their work and relationship as they pursue their dreams. We promise a lot of fun and great conversation leading up to the movie premiere. There will be sweepstakes, giveaways and a bookclub or two will be invited to my home for dinner and a live book club chat to be shared nationwide!
The end of the school year is going to be exciting as Nancy Bolmeier Fisher and Linda Woodward unveil The Origin Project Anthology. Five assemblies featuring our young student writers and artists will unfold in May.
Please check the Meet Adriana section appearances. I'm looking forward to appearing in conversation with the brilliant author, actor, comedian, and director, Craig Ferguson (co-star of Then Came You) about his new non fiction book of essays: Riding the Elephant, May 11 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT.
I'll join the dazzling Kathie Lee Gifford, star, lyricist, producer and screen writer of Then Came You, at the Greenwich International Film Festival in Greenwich, CT at 1 pm on May 30 for a screening of the film and discussion afterwards. Visit the Meet Adriana page for tickets and more details!
